Last week I was invited to present at FootballNext in Sofia, Bulgaria 馃嚙馃嚞. 200+ delegates from around Europe. After my presentation, I was approached by the representative from Sport Lisboa e Benfica (Benfica to you and me 馃槀). We chatted for 45 minutes, then he invited me out for dinner. He offered me an insight into their academy, and I thought, what a good idea for a Blog.
The first point to make is that there is a track record of developing players. Whether it is from a very young age (they work with players from six) or developing them later in their age, some impressive performers have come through the system. R煤ben Dias, Bernardo Silva, Jo茫o Cancelo, and Jo茫o F茅lix, Ant贸nio Silva, Jan Oblak, and Enzo Fern谩ndez to name a few.
